Estate Agents With A Conscience?
May 28, 2011It might sound like a contradiction in terms, but the UK’s first not-for-profit estate agents has opened it’s doors to Cornwall house sellers.
‘Imove Cornwall’ is a community lead social enterprise, inspired by the governments big society initiative.
Chairman Mark Green, an estate agent for 5 years, says “We have setup imove to give homeowners a cost effective platform to sell their property and raise significant funds for local good causes”.
Estate agents in Cornwall typically charge between 1-2% of the properties value. Green says “Imove charges £399 to sell any size property, anywhere in Cornwall. We take photograph’s, create floor-plans and produce brochures for each property we bring to the market. Properties are then advertised on our website and on the major property portal websites. When buyers want to view properties the seller is put directly in contact with them”.
Children’s Hospice South West, which is building a multi-million pound hospice in St Austell, is one of the charities imove Cornwall has chosen to support.
“We are delighted to be raising money for such a worthwhile cause. We also want to raise money for local good causes and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has a good cause to support. Such as saving a local children’s park or perhaps raising funds for a local disabled charity”
